What is the European Solidarity Corps?
Set up in July 2018, the European Solidarity Corps is the successor to the EVS (European Voluntary Service). On the 17th December 2018, we were in Paris to launch this new system in the presence of Gabriel ATTAL, Secretary of State to the Minister of Education and Yannick BLANC, President of the Service Civique Agency. This programme’s aim is for young people to volunteer in projects benefiting people and communities across the whole of Europe. In this way, they can develop personal and professional skills, all while contributing to a cause that matters to them.
The “Quality Label”
The “Quality Label” is a prerequisite for European organisations that want to carry out volunteer projects, apprenticeships or jobs. It is with great pride that we received our “Quality Label” in order to implement this new programme. But that’s not all! We were also awarded, along with only twelve other French organisations, the title of “Volunteering Partner”. This is a guarantee of quality, experience and support during the voluntary period.
Important information
To take part in this programme, you must be 18 to 30 years old. Following a simple registration procedure, participants are selected to take part in a wide range of projects of their choice (environmental disasters, reconstruction work, assistance in centres for asylum seekers or social assistance to deprived populations etc.)
These projects last for twelve months. They will take place largely in EU member states.
Working on a European Solidarity Corps project is a major asset for young people. Both in terms of finding a job and in enrolling in higher education. With the European Solidarity Corps, you can take part in constructive activities that could act as a springboard into employment.
If you decide to put yourself forward as a volunteer, you will not receive a wage but your travel, accommodation, subsistence and insurance will be covered for the whole of your service. You will receive the necessary training before you go and when you arrive.
